National Geographic Channel: Ant habitat

The blue substance inside the board is a special type of gel. The gel serves as both habitat and nutrition for ants, allowing you to watch in awe as they turn the blue gel inside the board into a fascinating colony of tunnels. It is also transparent so that people can watch from both sides of the board. The gel is developed by NASA and is now sold in ant aquariums known as AntWorks.

This is a student work and therefore only a Photoshop sketch of the idea.
The board should be placed under shadow or inside a building; a busy train station or a shopping mall where people can study the ants and how they dig tunnels over a period of time. The ants can live within this habitat for up to 5-6 months if needs be.
